Certified Autism Travel Professional (CATP)
I am pleased to announce that I have been certified through IBCCES as a Certified Autism Travel Professional. What this means is that I have the resources and awareness of services and benefits in the travel industry to assist families living with autism to be able to take a family vacation with confidence and assurances that they are not alone.
While taking the training to become certified to help families with children with autism, one thing became very apparent: ALL families really want to travel, if they were just more comfortable with the travel provider. They are looking for moments and times where they could just be normal.
The cruise industry has for some time taken the position that they need to provide access to EVERYONE who would like to travel. Concerns over mobility, activity levels, and other health issues have promoted the industry to find services and associates to remove the barriers, allowing families and groups to be inclusive to all.
There are services and programs available throughout the travel industry where the staff is ready to help make this the vacation of a lifetime. Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, for example, proclaims that ALL of their ships are AUTISM FRIENDLY. All of the staff have bee trained to a level of recognition and some have excelled in their training to be able to provide hands-on services.
For more details on cruising Royal Caribbean and other vacation opportunities, look at my posts under ACCESS.
PLEASE send me any questions or inquiries regarding travel for families living with autism. I am ready to help.
